We'll be there. It's an incredibly easy drive straight down I-55, about two hours.
My most memorable Illinois State moment was when Comegys was a freshman. We barely beat them at home just a few months after we lost in the finals of the NIT. The narrow win over Ill State signaled something troublesome to me, like we may not get back to the dance that year either. But we go on to win 25 games and guess who is our first round opponent -- Illinois State again. While that ends up being an easy game, the second game is another Ray Meyer crunch time masterpiece, a loss to Wake Forest in OT.
my one and only time there in Normal - the game in 86-87 where Andy Laux was hitting bombs all over the place, but everyone got really scared when Comegys got hurt and we all thought he blew out his knee. Strickland was just magnificent in that game.
hopefully Jamee Crockett can have a career day there - he ended his HS career at Redbird on a down note - he singlehandedly almost brought Crete-Monee back from a huge deficit but they didn't have enough at the end.
i remember being in college and we played down there. it was around '91 or something. i was going to go but there was hug snowstorm down there. there were few people at the game (winter break) but lo & behold i see my college roommate behind the bench.
Myself, my son and one of his buddies will definitely be there. Longtime Bluedemon fan that lives right outside of Bloomington/Normal/ A buddy of mine is the President of ISU Credit Union and gave me 3 of his 8 tickets he gets for every athletic event. I hope the ISU fans dont get to upset with 3 dressed in Bludemon gear. LOL Go Bluedemons
Watched the second half last night. ISU has a really good freshman center who will probably be a handful for Depaul when we play them on the 23rd. Very young team though, I heard on the broadcast that they only have 2 players with NCAA experience.
