"We are extremely excited to have Orsi Szecsi and Wumi Agunbiade join the Duquesne family," said McConnell-Serio. "Both players had offers from a number of schools, but by choosing Duquesne we know both players believe in what we are building here. Both Orsi and Wumi are going to help the program reach a higher level."
Szecsi is a 6-3 wing player who came to the States last year from Hungary. In just one full year at Oak Hill Academy (coach Mike Rodgers) she has drawn national attention and is ranked the 14th best small forward and 77th best player overall by ESPN HoopGurlz. She is ranked the 84th best player according to Blue Star Basketball and Scout.com ranks Szecsi as the 17th best player in the Middle Atlantic Region.
This summer, Szecsi worked with the Hungarian National Team and was a member of the Garner Flames (N.C.) AAU organization during this past spring.
Szecsi chose Duquesne over Connecticut and Oklahoma.
Agunbiade, one of the top players in Ontario, averaged over 20 points per game while leading Dunbarton (coach Jan Heyes) to the semifinals of the Lake Ontario Secondary School Athletics AAAA semifinals this season. Ranked the 43rd best power forward by ESPN HoopGurlz, and is ranked the 108th best player according to Blue Star Basketball. A three-time athlete of the year at Dunbarton and MVP of the Spartans last season, Agunbiade once scored 47 points as a member of the Scarborough Blues (coach Charles Kissi) club team.
Additionally she played for the Advantage Titans (coach Christopher Smalling) and 'A' Game (coach Scottie Afful).
Agunbiade was one of the most heavily recruited players in the Greater Toronto Area and chose Duquesne over Michigan State, DePaul and Vermont.
Blue Star Basketball ranks Duquesne's Class of 2010 recruiting class the 47th best in the nation.
The Dukes, who opened the season with road wins at Cornell and Niagara return home to play Mount St. Mary's on Wednesday night. Tipoff is at 7:00 p.m.
