Chicago High School Classic All-Star Game

On Friday, April 3rd, 2009 the Chicago High School Classic boy's basketball senior All-Star game will take place at Niles North High School (9800 N. Lawler Ave, Skokie, IL 60077). The classic will feature the best of Illinois' high school basketball stars.

The game tips at 8:00 p.m. with the Slam Dunk Contest and CN100 3-point Shootout starting at 7:00p.m. Doors open to the general public at 6:30p.m.

Many of the players participating in the 3rd annual Chicago High School Classic will be playing as freshmen at NCAA Division I schools next season including Brandon Paul, who will be named Mr. Basketball in Illinois.

The North All-Stars squad will be led by North Lawndale coach Lewis Thorpe. The South All-Stars will be led by Richards coach John Chappetto.

This year's Slam Dunk Contest participants and judges will be announced on The Classic's website. Darrin Johnson (Leo), Anthony Kelly (Aurora Central Catholic), Don McAvoy (Mt. Carmel), Ben Rippel (Prairie Ride) and Travis Scott (Hillcrest) have already committed to compete in the Slam Dunk Contest. The judges are headlined by JNiice & Julian from B96 and three-time NBA Champion Dickey Simpkins.

This year's CN100 3-point Shootout participants will be announced on The Classic's website. Eric Wilde (Crystal Lake South) and Phil Sexton (Brother Rice) have already committed to compete in the CN100 3-point Shootout.

The week preceding The Classic select players will be taking part in promotional and charitable events that include a visit to Children's Memorial Hospital on March 31 from 2:30-4p.m. They will also be making appearances speaking to local youth basketball teams.

This year The Classic is proud to donate the proceeds from the raffle to Jessica Cowin, who will be undergoing a Kidney Transplant in the next month. Donate Life Illinois will be informing those in attendance about Organ & Tissue Donation.

The game will be broadcast in the Chicago area on the Comcast Cable channel CN-100 on tape at a later date and will be available for On-Demand viewing on Comcast cable.
