Avellino got stronger for its Euroleague debut in the upcoming 2008-09 season by inking shooting ace Drake Diener to a one-year deal, the club announced Monday.
Drake Diener arrives from Montepaschi Siena, which he helped to win the Italian League title and make it to the Euroleague Final Four.
He had started the 2007-08 season with Pierrel Capo d’Orlando, averaging 18.2 points on 94% free throws, 4.2 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 2.5 steals in 20 Italian League games before joining Montepaschi last February.
Diener also played for Ignis Castelletto Ticino after finishing his college career at De Paul University.
