Seattle Picks DePaul’s Quigley in WNBA Draft

CHICAGO – DePaul senior guard Allie Quigley was selected by the Seattle Storm in the 2008 WNBA Draft on Wednesday. She is the fourth player in the last four seasons selected in the WNBA Draft following Jenni Dant in 2005, Khara Smith in 2006 and Jenna Rubino last season. Quigley was the first pick of the Storm and eighth pick of the second round.

Allie Quigley, the 22nd overall selection, finished her DePaul career with 2,078 points, 427 assists, 248 three-pointers and 214 steals. She played 129 games in her four-year career to tie for second all-time at DePaul and started the last 120 games in a Blue Demon uniform.

The third-fastest player in DePaul history with 100 career three-pointers (44 games), she is ranked second all-time with 248 three's and 642 three-point attempts. Quigley is also among the program's top five in assists (3rd-427), field goal attempts (3rd-1,771), scoring (3rd-2,078), field goals (3rd-756), free throw percentage (t3rd-.832) and three-point field goal percentage (5th-.386). She finished her career with six of the top 17 single-game three-point shooting performances and totaled 109 career games in double-figures (84.5 percent). Quigley registered 35 career games with at least 20 points and passed the 30-point plateau on four career occasions – including three during her senior season.

The Seattle Storm opens the preseason schedule on Wednesday, April 30 in Chicago against the Chicago Sky in the first of three exhibition games before starting the regular season on Saturday, May 10 against the Sky in Seattle.
