DePaul to Appeal Mario Stula Ruling

CHICAGO -- DePaul University is in the process of appealing the decision of the NCAA Student-Athlete Reinstatement staff of ineligibility for one year plus seven games regarding men’s basketball student-athlete Mario Stula it was announced today.

Upon receiving the NCAA’s initial decision, the Athletics Department did extensive additional research and concluded the decision was unduly harsh. The Athletics Department is working with Mario to provide information to support its appeal. No further comment will be issued until the appeal has been reviewed by the NCAA.

Mario Stula, a 6-7 DePaul freshman, played basketball in his native Croatia before arriving in the United States in 2006. Mario led Decatur Christian school in scoring with 13.3 points per game his senior year.
