Posted Aug 30, 2007

DePaul University women’s basketball coach Doug Bruno picked up a verbal commitment in the class of 2008 from Deanna Ortiz of Resurrection High School in Chicago.

Steve Tucker from the Chicago Sun-Times reports today that Deanna Ortiz made a verbal commitment to the DePaul Blue Demons while visiting the Lincoln Park campus on Wednesday night.

Ortiz, a 5-10 guard, averaged 19.3 points per game for the Resurrection Bandits last season. She was named an All-Area selection by the Chicago Sun-Times.

Ortiz competed on the AAU Circuit with the Illinois Hustle. In April, she was named to the Boo Williams Invitational All-Tournament Team.
