OKLAHOMA CITY – Washington's Danielle Lawrie threw a no-hitter as the DePaul softball team fell, 3-1 in the first game of the Women's College World Series at the ASA Hall of Fame Softball Stadium. The Blue Demons (46-12) drop into the losers bracket and play the loser of the Northwestern/Arizona State game on Saturday at 11 a.m.

The Blue Demons capitalized on a Washington throwing error to score the first run of the ballgame in the top of the third. Stephanie Blagaich reached on a fielder's choice and scored on throwing error by Lawrie during the Shea Warren's at-bat.

Washington took the lead back in the bottom half of the inning on Dena Tyson's two-run home run. Tyson's two-out homer scored Ashley Charters, who doubled to begin the inning.

Ashlyn Watson gave the Huskies their final run of the game with a home run over the left field fence in the fourth inning.

Following Watson's home run, DePaul starter Tracie Adix (21-3) walked Nicole Moojen before she was replaced by Becca Heteniak.

Lawrie (30-11) allowed just three runners to reach and struck out nine. Her no-hitter was the first since 2003 by California's Keira Goerl. No pitcher in WCWS history has given up a run and still thrown a no-hitter.

After entering the game in the fourth inning with two-outs, Heteniak struck out her first five batters and got the final two Washington batters to flyout.
