Josh Crittle Receiving Rave Reviews

Illinois big man Josh Crittle, from Hales Franciscan High School, made quite an impression on a number of scouts and college coaches with his play at the Boo Williams AAU tournament in Virginia this last weekend. WeAreDePaul.com talks with Crittle fresh off his performance.

Josh Crittle and his MeanStreets 17-U AAU team from Illinois advanced all the way to the championship game of the Boo Williams Invitational and lost to the host team – Boo Wililiams by two points. The 6-8 forward and his teammates have been practicing together since Hales was eliminated from the IHSA playoffs last month and have been together as a group for several years. Crittle felt that the team's preparation time, experience and chemistry gives them an advantage on the AAU circuit. "We had a lot of time to practice and have played together for a couple years," said Crittle.

With five potential Division I players in the starting lineup, MeanStreets promises to do well this spring and summer. Crittle plays alongside big man Michael Dunigan, 6-5 guard and fellow Hales teammate Matthew Humphrey, 5-10 point guard Kevin Dillard, and 6-5 Carl Richard from Richards High in Oak Lawn. All five will tackle all comers with former NFL star Tai Streets leading from the bench.

Crittle is wide open in his recruitment right now. He boasts scholarship offers from Baylor, DePaul, Iowa State, Valparaiso, and Virginia. He is also receiving interest from Clemson, Dayton, Indiana, Illinois, Miami, and Oregon.

Crittle has a good idea what he is looking for as he takes his game to the next level. A good support structure and track record for developing big men are two factors that will be important to him in his college decision. "I like a school that has a lot of academic help and a program that has proven that it can develop big men," Josh remarked.

Next up for Josh Crittle and his MeanStreets teammates is a trip to the Lone Star state to play in the 2007 Houston Kingwood Classic the weekend of April 20th.
