Posted Nov 30, 2006

CHICAGO - DePaul center Keith Butler has been reinstated to the men's basketball team it was announced today by Blue Demon head coach Jerry Wainwright.

Butler, a 7-1, 255-pound senior from West Medford, Mass., was suspended in June for violations of team policy. He began practicing with the team on Monday.

"Keith has fulfilled every requirement that we placed upon him during the initial handing down of the suspension this summer," Wainwright said. "We are pleased to have Keith back with our basketball family and look forward to his contributions to the 2006-07 Blue Demons."

Butler sat out last season after transferring from Temple where he was a three-year starter and ranked among the Atlantic 10 Conference leaders in blocked shots each season. In his 92-game collegiate career, Butler is averaging 4.2 points, 5.2 rebounds and 1.6 blocks per outing.

DePaul entertains fifth-ranked Kansas on Saturday at the Allstate Arena. The 1 p.m. (CST) game will be televised by ESPNU and broadcast on WSCR 670 AM) in Chicago.
