DePaul and Seton Hall are both coming off close losses. For the Blue Demons it was a 96-94 overtime loss to Marquette on Saturday. On Sunday, the Pirates suffered a 72-71 defeat at Creighton.
The matchups in Tuesday's game will be different from when the two teams last met. In that meeting in Newark four weeks ago, DePaul played without freshman point guard Billy Garrett, Jr., who was in a New Jersey hospital dealing with an episode from the sickle cell trait that he carries. Garrett is back and is coming off a career high performance on Saturday and was also named the Big East Rookie of the Week for the fifth time this season.
The Demons were also without Charles McKinney, who sat out the game with an ankle sprain.
DePaul was also without Jamee Crockett, who was sidelined with mononucleosis. Crockett has a reputation as being a Seton Hall killer. In his freshman year, Crockett scored a then career high 21 points to defeat Seton Hall 86-58 and burst their NCAA tournament bubble.
The Demons will have to be on the watch for Seton Hall senior Fuquan Edwin, who is the Pirates' best offensive and defensive player.
Edwin was named to this week's Big East Honor Roll after scoring 21 points twice last week. He shot 57.1 percent from the floor in the two games. Edwin leads the Big East in steals with 2.9 thefts per game. Edwin dropped 30 on the Blue Demons just four weeks ago.
Seton Hall has four players averaging in double figures. Edwin (14.8 points per game), Sterling Gibbs (14.3 ppg), Brian Oliver (11.3) and Eugene Teague (10.4).
Teague leads the Pirates on the glass with 7.9 rebounds per game and is third in rebounding in the Big East. He's a monster on the interior and also leads the league in field goal percentage at 61.7 percent.
Sophomore guard Sterling Gibbs was suspended from Sunday's game at Creighton, but is expected to be back for the game at DePaul.

The Last Time
On January 25, 2014 at Newark's Prudential Center, Seton Hall defeated DePaul 86-69. It was a game where DePaul was severely undermanned, playing without Cleveland Melvin (suspension), Billy Garrett Jr. (illness), Jamie Crockett (illness) and Charles McKinney (ankle injury).
With DePaul head coach Oliver Purnell shorthanded, he went with a peculiar starting lineup of DeJuan Marrero, Edwin McGee, Brandon Young, Sandi Marcius and Durrell McDonald.
DePaul just had no answer for Fuquan Edwin of the Pirates, who scored a game-high 30 points and was 11-16 from the floor, including 3-7 from three-point territory.
One lone bright spot for the Demons was the emergence of freshman guard R.J. Curington, who scored a career high 15 points (on 5 of 8 shooting). With the team shorthanded, the frosh answered the bell and had his breakthrough game. McDonald also fared well, scoring 14 points.
Young led the Demons in scoring with 23 points.
