This is the fourth year in a row that the BlueDemons have faced the Panthers in non-conference play, so there is plenty of familiarity between the two teams. It will be the first time in that stretch that DePaul will be playing at Milwaukee though. The Blue Demons are 2-1 in the last three years of the series, with the lone loss coming at Allstate Arena in 2011.
UWM is off to a 4-1 start in Rob Jeter's ninth year at the helm of the Panthers, and they have yet to play a home game yet. The Panthers only loss came on the road at Loyola-Chicago. UWM won the NIU invitational Tournament over the weekend, featuring wins over San Jose State, James Madison, and the host NIU Huskies.
UWM appears to have gotten off to a good start, and despite playing on the road, has put up some good scoring numbers. The Panthers have five players averaging double-figures right now.
6-8 forwards Matt Tiby leads the way with 14.6 points per game and 8.8 rebounds per game. 5-10 guard Jordan Aaron is adding 13.8 ppg. Sophomore forward Austin Arians is chipping in at 12.6 ppg. Kyle Kelm is contributing 11.6 ppg and Steve McWhorter adds 10.4 ppg.
McWhorter was named Horizon League co-player of the week after averaging 11.5 points, 4.5 assists and 3.3 rebounds per game. Tiby and Aaron were also named to the All-Tournament team at the NIU Invitational in DeKalb this weekend. The Panthers will be fired up for their home opener against the Blue Demons. Jeter has never lost a home opener in his eight years at UWM. It's also the first road game of the year for the Demons.
"It's on their homecourt, they have a chance to play a Big East team and they're motivated," said DePaul coach Oliver Purnell. "It's the first time our young guys are going on the road, so that's always a concern."
This will also be DePaul's second straight game against a Horizon League opponent.
"I feel confident that we're going to go in there and focus on what we need to do to win the game," DePaul senior forward Cleveland Melvin said. "I feel like that if we go in there and be aggressive, we will get the W."
Fatigue could be a factor for the Panthers as this is the fourth game they've played in the last five days.
The Last Time
On December 9th, 2012, the Blue Demons turned on the defensive prowess for 40 minutes and took down the visitors from Milwaukee for a 84-50 non-conference victory.

Junior center Donnavan Kirk led the way with 14 points for the Blue Demons. Sophomore Jamee Crockett scored 13 points and grabbed six rebounds.
Junior guard Brandon Young contributed with 13 points, six rebounds and three assists.
Cleveland Melvin finished with 11 points and five rebounds. Moses Morgan came off the bench to contribute nine points.
