DePaul Inks Three for 2013

DePaul men's basketball coach Oliver Purnell talks about his 2013 signing class for the early signing period.

Morgan Park senior guard Billy Garrett, Jr., and junior college big men Forrest Robinson and Greg Sequele signed National Letters of Intents with DePaul during the early signing period. Billy Garrett, Jr., a 6-4 point guard, is ranked by Scout.com as a four star prospect, the 17th best point guard prospect and the 79th best overall prospect in the class of 2013. Garrett, the son of DePaul assistant coach, Billy Garrett, Sr., first verbally committed to DePaul in May of 2011.

Forrest Robinson is a 6-10, 230 lb. sophomore power forward from South Plains junior college in Texas.

Robinson gives the Blue Demons a face-up power forward with a nice shooting touch. He originally signed with North Texas in 2011 and left the Mean Green program after one season.

Greg Sequele, a 6-8, 230 lb. forward from Citrus Community College went to high school at Ribet Academy in Southern California, which is the same high school that produced former DePaul center Krys Faber.

Sequele originally signed with Washington State in 2010, but did not qualify academically. He then spent one year at the College of Southern Idaho before landing at Citrus Community College in California.

Sequele is a native of Guadeloupe and speaks four languages Spanish, French, Creole, and English.

"We're pleased to add this group of fine athletes into the fold," said Purnell. "I think one of the things that we get a lot out of this class is some guys who can really shoot the basketball particularly with Billy and Forrest. They are all athletic, particularly Greg who is a Cleveland Melvin type athlete. Forrest is a big guy who can really shoot the basketball. That's a premium and causes matchup problems for our opponents. Billy can play either guard position and is an outstanding shooter with a high basketball IQ. He's a guy that gives us flexibility in the backcourt. We're really pleased with the class and I really think they are going to help us get much better along with the guys we have returning next year."
