Interest in Nunn Heats Up
Nunn is ranked as the 12th best shooting guard in the nation by Scout.com for the Class of 2013 which makes him a four-star prospect.
Kendrick was recently named to the USA Basketball 16-U team and will represent his country in international play this summer.
"It's pretty good," said Nunn. "To play with USA Basketball and play with all the best players in the country is great. We're going to Mexico to try to win a gold medal."
When asked what he'd value more, another state championship title with Simeon or a gold medal? Nunn knew which one he'd take.
"If I won the gold it would be tears of joy," said Kendrick. "If I had to choose between a state championship and a gold medal, I'd take the gold medal."
Head coaches like DePaul's Oliver Purnell and Illinois' Bruce Weber called Nunn on Wednesday to let him know they want to recruit him to their schools. So what did these coaches have to say to the 6-2, 165 lb. youngster from Simeon?
"They congratulated me on making USA Basketball," said Nunn. "They tell me that I'm doing a great job and keep up the good work. They want to get me on campus to see the facilities and everything."
Nunn plays in the backcourt on the AAU circuit with the 16-U MeanStreets team with Jaylon Tate. Tate and Nunn are very close friends. Kendrick recently learned that Tate will be transferring from DeLaSalle and that the two will be teaming up together at Simeon.
"We're great friends and he's a great teammate," said Kendrick, who averaged nine ppg while playing just 13 minutes per game off the bench for the Wolverines last season.
When talking about playing at the next level, there is one thing Nunn prefers.
"I want to play an uptempo kind of ball," said the 6-2 guard.
At this point, Nunn is keeping things close to the vest and isn't naming any favorites.
"No favorites, I'm pretty much wide open," Nunn said.
Kendrick will be in action with his MeanStreets teammates at the Nike Peach Jam in South Carolina in July.
